Justin Bieber, Frank Ocean Win Gold In MTV's Summer Jam Games!

No Doubt, Ellie Goulding and Usher also join Biebs and Ocean on the summer song podium.

The podium at the 2012 <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/2012/summer_jam_games">MTV News Summer Jam Games</a> is crowded with some of the biggest stars on the planet, each representing their respective genres with the hottest hits of the season. Nearly 740,000 votes were cast across the five categories (hip-hop, R&B, EDM, rock and pop) resulting in a winners' list led by both fan-favorite veteran acts and relative newcomers.So who took home the gold in our Summer Jam Games? Well fans came out in full force for their acts, but only five acts could go home with gold.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber - "As Long As You Love Me featuring Big Sean"" isvevo="true" isrc="USUV71201064" id="vid:820040" width="415" height="255"></div>Check out the winners below:<big>Hip-Hop: "Lemme See" Usher, featuring Rick Ross</big> Just as it is in sports, sometimes years of practice and perseverance pay off. Such is the case with MTV Video Music Award nominee (for "Climax") Usher, whose jam "Lemme See," featuring Rick Ross, bested its nearest competition ("Mercy" by G.O.O.D. Music featuring 2 Chainz), to take the <a href="/news/articles/1690878/kanye-west-2-chainz-summer-jam-games.jhtml">hip-hop Summer Jam</a> gold medal. With nearly 20 years of blockbuster hits under his belt, Usher proved to be the Michael Phelps of our Summer Jam Games — a heavily decorated veteran who's still winning top honors when he gets in the game.<big>R&B: "Thinkin Bout You," Frank Ocean</big> With three VMA noms and one of the most acclaimed albums of the year, Ocean is enjoying a very big moment right now. That energy carried him not only to the top of the album charts, but also to victory in <a href="/news/articles/1690974/frank-ocean-summer-jam-games.jhtml">our R&B category</a>. Ocean took nearly half of all votes cast in the category and 12,000-plus votes more than his nearest competitor, silver medalist JoJo, whose "Demonstrate" did just that. Combined, Ocean and JoJo accounted for more than 92 percent of all votes in an R&B field that included Leah La Belle, The-Dream and Trey Songz.<big>EDM: "Lights," Ellie Goulding</big> Goulding took her time to break here in the U.S., but once the Brit beauty's ethereal dance jam "Lights" started to catch on, it set the charts on fire. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> tweeted that when he was looking for inspiration for his <a href="/news/articles/1690963/justin-bieber-as-long-as-you-love-me-music-video-premiere.jhtml">"As Long As You Love Me" video</a>, there was no one he wanted to <a href="/news/articles/1691049/justin-bieber-as-long-as-you-love-me-michael-jackson.jhtml">emulate more than Michael Jackson</a>.Coincidentally, when he needed someone to play his foe in the clip, he looked no further than a guy who has some experience working with Jackson.That man is Michael Madsen, who appeared in Jackson's 2001 gangster-themed video for "You Rock My World" off his Invincible album. "I didn't know what to expect... I was surprised... They got me a good wardrobe. That was my shirt though. I brought my own shirt; those kinds of shirts are kind of rare."The story is so much Shakespearian; the couple, they run off together out the window," he later continued. "It's rather like that, I thought that was interesting. And I thought the kid, he had an enormous talent and he was very gracious to my sons and was very gracious to my family."It was actually those sons that convinced the Hawaiian-shirt-wearing "Kill Bill" star to make the video with Bieber. "Well I was surprised at first that the kid was interested in having me be part of his video," he recalled. "I went to my sons and I asked my boys, I asked my sons what they thought if I should if they thought I should do it or not. And, of course, they gently placed their hand on my shoulder and said 'Dad don't you realize who Justin Bieber is?' And I said 'Well, no, actually I didn't.' Now that the Summer Olympics are in full swing, it seems as though the entire world has been caught up in watching their country's best athletes go for gold. We've definitely caught the Olympics fever here at MTV News and have been hard-pressed to pull our eyes away from all the action, and we're not alone. On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years.The albums featured in the new series are the <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="515">Rolling Stones</MTVNLINK>' Let It Bleed, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="993">Led Zeppelin</MTVNLINK>'s IV, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="973">David Bowie</MTVNLINK>'s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="503245">Mike Oldfield</MTVNLINK>'s Tubular Bells, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="977">The Clash</MTVNLINK>'s London Calling, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="267">New Order</MTVNLINK>'s Power, Corruption and Lies, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="758">Primal Scream</MTVNLINK>'s Screamadelica, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1118">Pink Floyd</MTVNLINK>'s The Division Bell, <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1041">Blur</MTVNLINK>'s Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1111141">Coldplay</MTVNLINK>'s A Rush of Blood to the Head.Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design.Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery."Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date.""We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

Will Black Keys Team Up With Ke$ha? First They Want Jim Nabors

Theirs is a relationship that has spanned time and Twitter, <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/77286418598211584" target="_blank">seafood</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/157523381602889728" target="_blank">shaving</a>, but over the years, the unlikely bond between the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/black_keys/artist.jhtml">Black Keys</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/id_3213641/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> has grown to become something more: a genuine friendship, marked with the occasional trespassing charge.<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Would The Black Keys Ever Collaborate With Ke$ha?" id="vid:731631.id:1678505" width="240" height="211"></div>"We're friends with her, we've known her since way before she was famous, before she was even a singer, I guess," Keys drummer Patrick Carney told MTV News. "When she was 16 years old, she used to sneak into our shows. We kind of became friends with her by kicking her out of our backstage room, over and over again. She actually has snuck into shows in L.A., San Diego, Coachella ...""She snuck in and [got] kicked out of one show, like, five times," frontman Dan Auerbach added. "[She] snuck in through the kitchen. I don't know if she's such a big fan; she just likes breaking the rules."So, when MTV News sat down with the 'Keys in Berlin during the premiere of their <a href="/news/articles/1678662/black-keys-gold-on-the-ceiling-music-video.jhtml">"Gold on the Ceiling"</a> video, we had to ask if their friendship with Ke$ha would take the next step: an actual musical collaboration. It's not all that far-fetched, considering both Ke$h and Auerbach live in Nashville ("I see her every once in a while flying by in her T-Top [convertible]," Auerbach laughed), and recently, the glittery one has logged studio time with <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/160846424609787906" target="_blank">the Flaming Lips</a>. So, could we see a team-up on the next Black Keys album?"I guess, I don't know," Carney said. "We don't really do that many collaborations, really."OK, so if a Ke$ha collabo isn't in the cards, just who would the 'Keys like to work with next? Well, as it turns out, they've got their eyes set on landing a very big star for the next record ... even if they mistakenly believe he's deceased."We both want to work with Jim Nabors very badly, but apparently he's not with us anymore," Carney said. Oh, <a href="http://www.jimnabors.com/" target="_blank">but he is.</a> Which means that, much like Nabors, the dream is alive. The Ke$ha collabo? With two spotlights shining down on him, a sleeveless <MTVNLINK type="artist" id="1270">Usher</MTVNLINK> belted out the first notes of his summer hit, "Climax," at Sunday's <a href="http://www.bet.com/shows/bet-awards/2012.html" target="_blank">2012 BET Awards</a>.The R&B crooner stood center stage, wearing all black, save for a pair of hot-colored shoes, and sang the ballad with the electro-beat from his seventh studio album, Looking 4 Myself, in front of a live band. Some wicked, black-and-white animation danced behind him on a large screen that backlit the auditorium.This was the first time Usher has performed at the awards show since 2010, where he also sang another ballad, "There Goes My Baby," from his Raymond v. Save for a few quick microphone movements, he let his vocals dance during the performance. Britney Spears Has Tearful Reunion With Former Duet Partner On 'X Factor'

Britney sang 'I Will Still Love You' with Don Philip on her debut album.

Months before the revamped <a href="/news/articles/1687014/britney-spears-demi-lovato-x-factor-auditions.jhtml">"X Factor"</a>  hits the air, we've already come to expect some serious drama from new judge <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a>. But in one of those only-in-reality-TV moments, Spears shed some genuine tears on Sunday during audition rounds in San Francisco when she was confronted with a voice and face from her distant past.<a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20604974,00.html" target="_blank">People</a> magazine reported that Spears got emotional when a male contestant hit the stage at Oracle Arena, telling fellow panelists Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and fellow newbie Demi Lovato, "I know him ... We did a duet together 10 years ago." A source told the magazine that when the man stepped on the stage, "You could see that Britney recognized him straight away ... She got this huge smile on her face and her eyes lit up. It was so sweet."<div class="player-placeholder right" title="Britney Spears Explains Why She Wanted To Be A Part Of 'X Factor'" id="vid:769620" width="415" height="255"></div>While People did not reveal the man's identity, Spears superfan Jordan Miller of fan site <a href="http://www.breatheheavy.com/2012/06/don-philip-drama-at-the-x-factor/" target="_blank">Breathe Heavy</a> confirmed that the auditioner was none other than Don Philip. The one-time aspiring new pop revolution singer performed a duet with Britney on the treacly ballad "I Will Still Love You," from her 1999 debut album, ...Baby One More Time.A spokesperson for the show declined to comment on the singer's identity when asked for comment.The blast from her past got more emotional when Phillip revealed to the judges and audience, "I'm gay." He continued, "At the time I didn't think I was worth ... I didn't think you thought it was OK that I am gay." Spears was reportedly quick to voice her support for Phillip, saying, "I think it is fine you are gay."The unnamed source told People that when Phillip started crying and said, "he thought he'd never see her again and that he'd had a lot to deal with, Britney was comforting him to calm him." Though she was compassionate and warm with Phillip, the source said that the singer was clearly a bit shaken by the unexpected run-in."She's been through a lot in those 10 years, too, so it must have been a shock for her to see him," the source said. "You could tell she was emotional and she really felt for him especially when he was crying, but she also stayed calm." Even with the drama, Spears reportedly gave a very straightforward critique, though it is unknown if Phillip made the cut.Philip, a Miami, Florida, native who tried to ride the same late-'90s teen pop wave that made superstars out of Spears, Christina Aguilera, 'NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, has spent the time since the duet grinding away at a music career that never reached the heights of his former singing partner. The one-time Jive Records star-in-the-making has sung back-up for Gloria Estefan and toured with Spears early in her career, and like "The Voice" singer <a href="/news/articles/1684782/the-voice-christina-aguilera-tony-lucca.jhtml">Tony Lucca</a>  and Aguilera, maybe he was hoping that a reunion with his former pop pal would provide the boost he's been looking for.Apparently, though, the "Factor" audition didn't go as Philip planned. According to a series of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/donphilip" target="_blank">Facebook</a> posts, Don was disappointed with how things went and wrote, "Tonight i might have sealed my music career fate according to a certain music mogul. I tryed to just be real and instead it totally got turned around on me," he said. "Perhaps this was not the place for me to reveal my very soul and obstacles of my past. Certainly not the place for a reunion ... I promise I only had good intentions in mind."He said his voice "froze" when he began to sing and was never able to recover from what he felt was a "really hardcore interrogation" from what he anonymously described as "two pompous arrogant men."He continued, "I guess I am not as tough skinned as I thought ... Wait it gets worse ... when I looked into the very eyes of my old label mate and saw she too was sad. I knew the whole situation was spinning out of control.. my heart broke."On Monday, Philip posted another note, wondering if Cowell might give him another shot, explaining that he was "so exhausted and could not sleep [the] night before," because he was so scared to face Spears. MTV News gets a behind-the-scenes look at the Cirque Du Soleil tribute to the King of Pop.

NEWARK — Since its opening, <a href="/news/articles/1682347/michael-jackson-immortal-cirque.jhtml">Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour</a> by Cirque Du Soleil has honored the King of Pop through music, dance and acrobatics 117 times. Night after night, artists celebrate the life of the late Michael Jackson, but how do they take his iconic legacy and put it into a production? When the tour came to New York City this week, MTV News went behind the scenes to talk with the creative forces and performers to find out.The artists (all 65 of them) had limited time to train and learn choreography -- an especially difficult feat when it's honoring MJ's signature moves. It was a kind of pressure that creative director Tara Young certainly learned to channel into a positive force.<CENTER><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:755805/cp~vid%3D755805%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A755805" width="430" height="242" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></CENTER>"I think it is a pressure for sure; something I share with the whole building here is that we have nothing to prove, only to share," Young told MTV News. "We have an opportunity to share what Michael would have wanted to share and the pressure is only there to achieve excellence."For Felix Cane, a two-time world champion pole dancer who does a captivating performance to "Danger," it was all about using that pressure to help the audience to remember the pop icon. "You are sharing this passion with them, and this love of MJ. There's times in the show when some people and I, myself, might have shed a few tears."That pressure never felt as great as when the Jackson family sat in the front row at a show in Montreal, an experience Young described as "inspiring." When asked what MJ would think if he were sitting there with them, Young smiled, "He would feel such a sense of pride of what he has given us to work with. It evokes emotions in people that they didn't even know were going to come out."I think everyone feels inspired, which evokes a certain feeling of change," Young added. "You feel a sadness too because he is not with us anymore, and that is an emotion that is wonderful too actually ... just to honor him."The tour will continue in North America through the summer, before heading to Europe this fall.Have you seen Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour? Beyonce Performs At U.N. For World Humanitarian Day

Anderson Cooper interviews humanitarian workers during the event, leading up to B's stirring performance of 'I Was Here.'

NEW YORK — "Is this what happens at the U.N. every Friday night?" Anderson Cooper jokingly asked the crowd seated in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations on Friday (August 10). "Because, I've gotta tell you ... I wanna be here every Friday night if this goes on."The news anchor was referring to members of the organization and their invited guests who were gathered for a special event leading up to World Humanitarian Day, quickly approaching on Sunday. Cooper, himself a humanitarian in many respects, was on hand to host a series of interviews with local and international humanitarians that would eventually lead into a performance from Beyoncé.The 30-year-old star had appeared at the United Nations earlier in the day, where she rehearsed her performance of "I Was Here" and met with members of the United Nations. Now, at 8 p.m. ET on Friday night, Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson made his way to the stage welcoming everyone to the General Assembly Hall and giving an early introduction of Beyoncé, who had teased fans with a <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1691142/beyonce-i-was-here-campaign-video.jhtml" target="_blank">cryptic message</a> on her blog and later revealed a PSA for World Humanitarian Day."Tonight [she] brings more than her stunning talents; she brings inspiration to help another person, to help another human being," he told the crowd, going on to describe "I Was Here" as a "profound and moving song." When he slipped on the title for a second, calling the song "I Was There," it became evident that there were some Bey stans in the audience. They quickly corrected him and joined him in laughing it off, while he added, "in fact 'here' and 'there' is the same thing — that's solidarity."Eliasson would then recall a "dark day in the history of the U.N." when 22 humanitarian workers lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Iraq on August 19, 2003. This event and World Humanitarian Day both honor those lost lives and encourage others to join the effort. After letting down the crowd by saying, "Sadly, I will not be dancing to my rendition of 'Single Ladies' tonight," Anderson Cooper hosted individual interviews with guests like the son of a lost humanitarian worker, a former child soldier-turned-author from Sierra Leone and even a local photographer who had worked to help homeless people.During her sit-down with Cooper, Under-Secretary General and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos would encourage everyone to log on to <a href="http://whd-iwashere.org/" target="_blank">WHD-IWasHere.org</a> by August 19 and commit to doing one good act to help someone in need, helping to reach the organization's goal of 1 billion volunteers. Amos explained that Beyoncé was passionate about helping this cause, and she was thankful in return."I told [Beyoncé]: It's great that we have her, because she can reach millions of people," Amos said. "I could spend the rest of my life doing what I do, and I wouldn't reach a 10th of that number. And she said: 'Don't sell yourself short.' "When Beyoncé took the stage, dressed in a skintight sequined white gown, the screens, which spanned from ceiling to floor, lit up with images of different regions around the world struck by disaster while the faces of humanitarian workers flashed. She belted out her vocals to "I Was Here," while members of the audience sang along, and the moment ended all too quickly, but cameras rolled the entire time, capturing a music video that will premiere on August 19th. When she finished, Beyoncé thanked the audience and encouraged them to do their part for World Humanitarian Day."I'd like to ask everyone to make sure they're a part of August 19th," she said of commemorating the Iraq terror attack. "It's such a beautiful, beautiful day, and I'd like to honor the 22 people who lost their lives. God bless you all. Thank you so much for having me."

Taking a break from filming "The Wolverine," Hugh Jackman landed himself a feature in the December 2012 issue of Total Film magazine.

Showing off his rock hard abs, the 44-year-old actor posed with his steel claws extracted while channeling his character in the latest production still.

Looking forward to taking a break from the gym, Hugh told the publication, "There's no doubt it gets harder. I'm 14 kilos [30lbs] heavier than I was three months ago, so my body is going to need a break!"

As for what we can expect to see when the film hits theaters on July 26th, Director James Mangold revealed, "It's a character piece, asking questions about what it means to be immortal. It takes in some of the darker and more intense aspects of the character."

Beyonce Backs U.N.'s World Humanitarian Day: Watch Now!

Singer will film live music video for 'I Was Here' to support campaign.

Well, the answer is here, and Beyoncé not only wants her Beyhive to leave their footprint that day, but she'll also be doing the same.<iframe width="415" height="233" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yPPBKyIceWY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>The superstar has joined forces with the United Nations and humanitarian aid organizations for World Humanitarian Day on August 19. It is "a global day to celebrate humanity and the spirit of people helping people," according to a press release.The VMA-nominated singer will be in New York City for the big celebration, along with her "I Was Here" songwriter, Diane Warren. The ladies will be on hand at the U.N. General Assembly Hall to film a live music video for the 4 ballad that they will then donate to the cause. " Also including footage of people across the world, the message closes out with the track playing and the diva saying, "One day, one message, 1 billion taking action for each other. I'll see you then."The <a href="http://www.whd-iwashere.org" target="_blank">World Humanitarian Day website</a> launched this week allows folks to post the "individual acts of good" they have done in their communities. By the day of the event, they hope to reach 1 billion people with a single message. Communities will do their part through commemorations and public events."We all see the headlines, and we think, 'What can I really do to help?' " Beyoncé said in a statement. "World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care."
